Description

Le Coup de Vent (original French title)

Etching and aquatint printed in brownish-black in on laid paper.
Reference: Bertin 279.
There was an early state before some worth throughout.  There may not have been an edition of this print.  Scarce.  The only other impression we know of, is in the Bibliothèque Nationale (see here).
Signed and dedicated “à mon ami Frantz Jourdain” in pencil.

The friendly relationship between Henri Guérard and Frantz Jourdain must have run deep.  A great many different prints by the artist were dedicated to Jourdain.  The latter was a Belgian-born architect who became a lifelong Parisian citizen and is today best known for designing La Samaritaine, the famous luxury department store in the 1st arrondissement.
