Une Mère Lisant à Ses Fils

Description

Gypsograph printed in dark-brown-bistre on wove paper, circa 1895-1900.

Reference: unidentified or missing in BN-IFF. One of a handful of impressions or unique. We were not able to definitively identify another impression of this composition anywhere. All prints by the artist are very scarce. NOTE: this composition is clearly a visual reinterpretation of the motif Mary, Jesus and John the Baptist in a modern activity. Lefort des Ylouses, whose father was Breton, reveals his Christian devotion throughout his oeuvre.
Provenance: Ronan Taburet, with his triskelion monogram stamp on the verso. Trimmed to the composition, as usually the case with the artist's prints.
