View full detailsIt is with great pleasure and honor that we present this first selection of works of art on paper from the personal collection of James and Carol Goodfriend. Jim is known to many in the world of prints and drawings as the dealer behind C & J Goodfriend Drawings and Prints. Over the years Jim would bring home particularly attractive prints and drawings, kept for their personal enjoyment. Jim and Carol have decided to disperse their collection and we are grateful to have been entrusted with the sale of these prints as well as some drawings, mostly by European, as well as some by American artists.
In keeping with his habit as a dealer Jim was always on the lookout for the most attractive works of art, collected for their artistic merit, rather than for name recognition. The discerning art buyer will find in this selection of works on paper magnificent examples of printmaking and draftsmanship. Each of these works was chosen for the quality of the impression, the interest of its subject matter, or its compositional strength. While famous printmakers will instantly be recognizable, we encourage you to focus not on the name, but on personal appeal, be it based on the light, the line, the composition, or any other number of factors that speak to you on an emotional level. This selection of artworks is being passed on from one distinguished art lover to the next generation.
Conditions and terms:
• Assume that each of these works is overall in a condition pleasing to the eye. They have generally not been conserved, which means that discolorations and minor flaws that do not affect their value visually, have been left untouched. We have noted obvious condition issues for transparency's sake. Full sheet images are visible on our website, and larger ones can be emailed upon request. We will be happy to detail further minor condition details.
