The Tamarisk - La Rochelle
Color aquatint on laid Arches, circa 1910.
Edition unknown, but likely not very large, or mostly lost today.
This view toward "Le Vieux Port de La Rochelle" and its two famous harbor entrance towers, "Tour Saint Nicolas" and "Tour de la Chaîne", still exists. A pedestrian alley called "Promenade Allée des Tamaris" runs from the "Port de Plaisance" (marina) to the entrance of the harbor and offers views unchanged since Henri Meunier drew this work more than one hundred years ago.
Signed and titled in pencil. Also stamped with the artist initials and with the number "44" faintly.
