Profile of a Woman with an Art Nouveau Earring
Profil de Femme à la Boucle d’Oreille Art Nouveau (French title)
Color lithograph on smooth wove paper, circa 1898.
No known edition. We have yet to find another impression of this subject; exceedingly scarce, in spite of what the numbering might suggest. Ian Millman, states in his book (Georges de Feure, maître du symbolisme et de l'Art Nouveau,1992, p. 146-147) that this is one of the last color lithographs produced in the late 1890s. It relates to several hors-texte reproduction published in a lengthy article in "Le Figaro Illustré", in February 1900", dedicated specifically to the artist.
Signed and numbered in black pencil. Full margins.
Provenance: Michel Romand (1929-2013), great-grandson of Edmond Sagot (1857-1917).
NOTE: This is the most elaborate Art Nouveau color lithograph by the artist which we have ever encountered, and it is in excellent condition. This is also one of the finest examples of a fine art print in the Art Nouveau style (as opposed to posters, which are more common).
