Aquatint on laid Arches paper. Refs: not in Merill-Chase or Michael. Edition unknown, likely not very large. Uncommon. Signed in pencil. Manuel Robbe created some of the most painterly intaglio prints ever. In the 1980's and into the early 90's his prints were sought after, and sold for many thousands of dollars. In the late 1990's about two dozen of his plates were reprinted (by unscrupulous art dealers), without notification to the public. This damaged the market value of Robbe's prints tremendously. Genuine lifetime impressions, such as ours, remain very attractive, and their prices are bargains, in our opinion.
