At the height of Belle Epoque collectability, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Jacques Villon's color etchings and early cubist prints were regarded so highly they would sell into the tens of thousands of dollars. With the Belle Epoque very much out of fashion, prices have made some of his once most desirable prints, eminently affordable. You could do worse than to own such a joyful image of two girls in fancy coats, enjoying a ride on the world's smallest merry-go-round. This simple scene of unadulterated joy did not escape Jacques Villon.
Signed and numbered in pencil.
Discoloration in the margins, due to prior mat toning. This was conserved at an earlier time. The color likely somewhat attenuated, but only very mildly. This remains a beautiful impression, with good colors. Priced accordingly.
