Color woodcut on thin laid Japan paper.
Edition of 25. The composition must have been popular as the artist is known to have printed a second edition of 50 with the sky in a darker tone.
Printed from two blocks, the artist has interestingly used the strange wood knot in the plank used for the sky to depict a a moonlike shape. This is quite an animated image for what looks like a quite scene, with tall grasses blowing left, ripples around the wader’s legs, and pulsating air animating the dusky sky all around.
Signed, titled, dated, and annotated in pencil.
