William Auerbach-Levy

William Auerbach-Levy (Belarusian/American, 1889-1964) was a Jewish-American artist known for his minimalist, modern caricatures, as well as genre paintings and etchings. His caricatures of prominent people appeared in The New YorkerVanity Fair and Esquire. Throughout his career, he received some notable recognition, most notably as a Guggenheim Fellow in 1929. Auerbach-Levy was also a member of and exhibited with the Chicago Society of Etchers, the Society of American Graphic Artists, and the Salmagundi Club. His artwork is held in several prominent collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston; the Art Institute of Chicago; and the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C.
