Thijs RINSEMA

Thijs Rinsema (1877–1947) was a Dutch artist and shoemaker-turned-avant-garde printmaker. The economy of form, symbolism, and subtle geometric tension in his stylized linocuts appeals to collectors of early modernist graphic art. Whether a still life, athletes in motion, or symbolic motifs, his prints are composed with constructivist clarity and are a rare Dutch variant of constructivist abstraction grounded in the De Stijl and Dada movements. Exhibited in Museum Dr8888 and referenced in exhibitions on Dutch Dada, his work occupies a distinctive space at the intersection of regional craft and European abstraction.
