Théo van RYSSELBERGHE

Belgian artist Théo van Rysselberghe (1862–1926) played an important role in introducing Neo-Impressionism and the Divisionist technique to Northern Europe. A founding member of the progressive art collective Les XX and later La Libre Esthétique, van Rysselberghe forged strong ties with French contemporaries like Signac, Seurat, and Toulouse-Lautrec. While celebrated primarily for his vibrant, light-infused paintings, he was also an accomplished and discerning printmaker. His etchings and drypoints, though relatively few, reflect the same sensitivity to line, atmosphere, and human presence found in his painted oeuvre.
