Embarkment Quai in Trouville
Embarcadère à Trouville (original French title)
Etching, aquatint, and drypoint on white laid paper.
Reference: Bourcard & Goodfriend 126 iii/v.
Bourcard's second, and Goodfriend's third state. A beautiful impression of the most effective state of the print, fully worked and before letters.
This light-filled impression renders an effect of blinding sunlight, showing that Buhot’s portrayal of atmosphere was not limited to the dark and stormy; he could render the opposite with equal brilliance.
With the J and G (Jim Goodfriend) initials, forming a butterfly stamped on the verso.
