Snake remarque – Plate 4 from Paysages
Lithograph printed in bistre and with the first sky variant in black, printed on chine mounted on wove paper.
Plate 4 with the snake remarque (FR: Serpent), from the Suite de Paysages, a set of 8 prints, self-published by the artist.
Edition of 100, in 6 color variants, with two different skies.
Many of the suites have been damaged by exposure to humidity and are either lost of heavily foxed. Most of the suites have also been broken up and individual sheets sold loose. Complete suites in fine, unrestored condition, are extremely rare.
Created between June 1892 and April 1893.
Numbered “28” and signed in pencil.
This lithograph was printed by Lemercier.
Overall very fine condition. Sheet trimmed slightly on all sides. Faint scattered foxing, in the margins only. One small area of paper loss in the left sheet edge.
