Third state of seven, after the central subject was darkened, but before the left and bottom margins were further sketched. Relatively scarce in this state.
Signed with the large red owl monogram stamp (Lugt 977).
Provenance: private Chicago collector, purchased from Merrill Chase, Chicago.
