Ruth Leaf

An American printmaking pioneer trained at Atelier 17, Ruth Leaf (1923-2015) mastered viscosity etching as well as woodcut, monotype, and collagraph. Author of the seminal textbook Etching, Engraving and Other Intaglio Printmaking Techniques (1976), Leaf’s works are found in prestigious collections, including the Library of Congress, New York University, Columbia University, Butler Institute of American Art, and the Slater Museum. She remained a dedicated artist and teacher well into her 80s.
