[Dans la Chambre]
Ink, watercolor and colored pencil on this wove paper. Most certainly a preparatory drawing for a publication; possibly the Figaro. This drawing is fairly typical of the style of drawing the artist made for the publication. He had taken over from the famous caricaturist Jean-Louis Forain, and clearly aimed to work in his footsteps. It seems unclear that this drawing was published, as it does note bear the usual hallmarks of publication (generally indication of the published size). Signed in ink. Larger color drawings from that time are becoming scarce. This one in overall very good condition, except for a small, unobtrusive hole just below the "h" of the signature.
