This impression belonged to Roger Marx, arguably the most important art critic and art director in Paris in the late 19th-centrury world of printmaking. To name just his most noteworthy accomplishments: he co-directed L'Estampe Originale with André Marty, directed L'Image, was the editor in chief of La Gazette des Beaux-Arts, and curated French art sections at the Paris Expositions of both 1889 and 1900. Much more can be said about this arts luminary of his time.
Signed in pencil.
Provenance: Roger Marx, with his monogram stamp in the lower right sheet corner (Lugt 2229).
