Pier Tower, St. Ives (full moon version)
Color woodcut on laid Japan paper, circa 1905-10.
Reference: Meyrick (?). There is no edition for this print, only color variants, playing with effects of various times of the day. There are impressions with a different sky, suggesting clouds during daytime. Scarce and possibly unique in any color effect.
Signed in pencil.
NOTE: Sydney Lee was a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and closely associated with the Royal Academy. He is regarded, in his printmaking, as a strong proponent of the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement.
