Michael KIRK

Meticulous observation characterizes the work of Michael Kirk, an American artist who works primarily on paper. His drawings, watercolors, pastels, and prints all begin with small onsite sketches that give precise details and establish a sense of place while capturing the artist's mood or feeling.

The Doorways portfolio is an excellent example of his observational skills rendering a detailed vision of a time and place unique to 1970s New York City.

His work is held nationally and internationally in numerous museums and public and private collections. In addition to his distinguished lifelong career as an artist, Michael Kirk has been a printmaking professor at two prestigious art schools; Parsons School of Design and the Pratt Institute. His home and studio are in New York City.
