View full detailsA self-taught master of Farbholzschnitt (color woodcut), Margarethe Geibel (1876–1955) captured the essence of Weimar’s classical interiors and local landscapes during the early 20th century. Using interlocking blocks inked in complementary tones, her Goethe House series (1908–1917) evokes atmosphere as much as architectural detail. Geibel exhibited widely in Germany and was recognized by institutions such as the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden and Berlin, the British Museum, Vienna’s Hofbibliothek, and others. Though her portfolio is modest in scale, her prints reflect a deeply personal engagement with place and memory.
