Marc MOUCLIER

Marc Mouclier (1866-1948) is a French painter-printmaker active around the turn of the 19th to the 20th centuries, who remains quite unknown to this day.  A contemporary of Nabis artists, such as Edouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard, with whom he had affinities, Mouclier made his own way.  He painted in a style his own, and created prints that don’t directly seemed influenced by any one particular artist.  While little of his work surfaces onto the market, what does, is often of quality.  His sense of color was clearly refined, and his compositions always quietly balanced.
