Luigi RIST

American woodblock printmaker, Luigi Rist (1888-1959) is admired for his detailed, color-rich still lifes and landscapes with Japanese ukiyo-e influences, focusing on intricate natural details. Mentored by Morris Blackburn, he studied printmaking at the Grand Central School of Art in Manhattan. Rist is widely recognized for elevating woodblock printing techniques in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s.
