Louis NOVAK

Louis Novak (1903–1983) was a Czechoslovak-born American printmaker, painter, and educator based in Cambridge–Watertown, Massachusetts. Trained at the Massachusetts School of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, he became known for his signature color linocuts and woodcuts featuring bucolic and urban New England scenes. As a member of the Prairie Printmakers—a group known for promoting accessible, beautifully crafted prints—Novak shares associations with populist art traditions and mid-century Americana charm. His prints are held in public and institutional collections, including the National Gallery of Art, the Peabody Essex Museum, the Reading Public Museum, Princeton Print Collection, and the Delgado Museum of Art.
