Kenneth Hayes MILLER
Kenneth Hayes Miller (1876-1952) was an American painter, printmaker, and influential teacher at the Art Students League of New York. Trained under William Merritt Chase and Kenyon Cox, Miller was at the vibrant center of the "14th Street School" and is known for his genre scenes of life in New York City, depicted with great warmth and humanism. As a draftsman, Miller’s drawings and prints are characterized by rich mark making and modeling. His students included Edward Hopper, George Bellows, Isabel Bishop, and Reginald Marsh, making him an important link between 19th-century academic traditions and early 20th-century American realism.
