Kees KOEMAN

Born under the somewhat cumbersome name of Cornelis Adrianus Koeman (1895-1954), this Dutch woodcut artist is mostly known under his colloquial, and common first name Kees.  Kees Koeman remains somewhat of a mystery.  He supposedly studied with Hendrik Jan Wesseling, a Dutch painter who is not much better known.  Yet Koeman does not seem to have left any painting behind.  Where and with whom he learned carving woodcuts, and where he printed his finely printed editions, remains a mystery.  Koeman may have been active in Haarlem and Santpoort.  But if he did, no traces can be found today.  We welcome any additional biographical information.
