Kaoru KAWANO

Kaoru Kawano (1916–1965) was a Japanese printmaker associated with the sōsaku-hanga (creative print) movement, which emphasized the artist's hand in every stage of the printmaking process—designing, carving, and printing. His signature style blends modernist abstraction with the poetic clarity of traditional Japanese design. Today, his woodblock prints remain beloved for their serenity and timelessness—a gentle fusion of modern sensibility and traditional craft.
