John Steuart CURRY

Best known as a leading figure in American Regionalism, John Steuart Curry (1897-1946) translated his dynamic, expressive painting style into bold black-and-white compositions that captured the spirit and struggles of rural American life. Working primarily in lithography, his prints often focused on dramatic moments from American history and folklore, and were published in collaboration with Associated American Artists.
Created by his deep belief that art serves as a vehicle for national conscience and historical reckoning, Curry's prints remain valued for their dramatic intensity, muscular draftsmanship, and deep engagement with American themes.
