Jan SAUDEK

Czech artist Jan Saudek (b. 1935), is a survivor of World War II and of the subsequent Communist repression, who transforms photography and painting into poetic tableaux. Set against the crumbling structures of civilization, and rich with symbolic resonance, Saudek developed a uniquely theatrical visual language. His enduring engagement with themes of nakedness, identity, and the human condition continues to move viewers profoundly. His work is held in private collections in Chicago, New York, and Paris.
