Helen FORMAN

British-born and later active in Chicago, printmaker Helen Forman (1892–1985) created etchings that balance delicacy and directness. Her subjects—landscapes, animals, and modest portraits—are marked by a thoughtful economy of line, often enriched with tonal contrasts that lend whimsy and drama to small-scale compositions. Though relatively scarce, her prints appear in the collections of the Smithsonian and the Smart Museum.
