View full detailsGustave Leheutre (1861-1932) discovered a fondness for prints, in particular those of Whistler, in the early 1890s. He was introduced to the rudiments of etching by Eugène Delâtre, who clearly taught him well. Attracted to cityscapes of the North of France, such as Chartres, his native Troyes, or Paris, his compositions are clean; his images straightforward. The odd picturesque details will sometimes be added, but his topographic style lends itself well to his propensity to clean lines and an impeccable etching his technique. The charm of Leheutre’s prints is, as such, quite unique.
