View full detailsA prolific illustrator who was known for his simplified esthetic, Gaston Maréchaux (1872 - circa 1936) often created compositions depicting children’s lives. His style, in the tradition of Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel’s children’s illustration, was closest to his contemporary Francisque Poulbot (1879 - 1946). Marechaux illustrated books, periodicals, all manner of ephemera (announcements, tin boxes, menus…) as well as posters and postcards.
