Frederick MARRIOTT

Frederick Marriott (1860–1941) was a British artist and printmaker known for his finely detailed etchings of European architecture and historic cityscapes. A founding figure in the British Etching Revival, Marriott trained at the Royal College of Art and later served as Headmaster of Goldsmiths’ College. His prints—often depicting gates, bridges, and twilight scenes in France and Italy—are admired for their architectural clarity and atmospheric tone. Elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers, Marriott exhibited widely and issued many prints in small, signed editions. His work is held in the British Museum, the V&A, and other UK collections.
