Francis JOURDAIN

Francis Jourdain (1876-1958) is today mostly remembered as a designer, particularly talented at creating elegant furniture.  He was however, especially early in his artists career, also a promising painter.  Born into the world of arts, thanks to his father’s successful architecture career, Jourdain already creates at an early age.  Encounters with fellow printmakers draw him towards aquatint and etching, which he practices sparingly for a few years.  He left us a handful of color prints, generally in a symbolist vein with brooding colors.
