Félix BUHOT

One of the most idiosyncratic etchers of the 19th century, Félix Hilaire Buhot (1847-1898) has always been a collectible printmaking.  While he gravitated towards rain, dusk and fog for most of his landscapes and views of cities, a diversity of compositions seems to have made his appeal universal.  Buhot was an extremely talented and meticulous printmaker, using all manner of copper engraving techniques to obtain the desired effects: etching, roulette, engraving, aquatint, burnishers & scrapers, drypoint…  He is best remembered for his prints with symphonic margins, but nearly all of his output is worth discovering.
