Frontispice pour Les Zigzags d’un Curieux (original French title)
Etching and drypoint, on simili-japon paper.
Refs: Bourcard/Goodfriend 172 iii/v. Third state of five, with the margins completed, and before the plate was cut down to remove the margins. Before the edition intended to illustrate Octave Uzanne’s book, in the final state.
Signed “TOHUB” with the dial of the clock of the tower suggesting the missing “O”, in the plate.
Provenance: Marcel Lecomte, book and print dealer and collector, Paris, with his black monogram stamp (not in Lugt).
