Félicien ROPS

Félicien Rops (1833–1898) was a Belgian printmaker of startling originality—combining erotica, satire, and occult Symbolism in finely crafted etchings and aquatints. A pioneer of soft‑ground etching and bold tonal contrasts, he illustrated literary works by Baudelaire and Barbey d’Aurevilly, often in limited editions published between 1880 and 1895. His prints shaped European Decadent taste and remain rare, technically remarkable, and historically resonant.
