Description

Jules CHADEL (1870-1941)

Tête de Chat (original French title)

Woodcut printed in four colors, including the background printed in gray metallic mica ink on laid japon paper.
Reference: BN-IFF 5.
Artist proof.  No known edition.  We know only of one other impression, which was signed with the artist red monogram stamp.
Monogrammed and annotated “epreuve d’artiste” in pencil.

Printer’s creases in the image and top margin.  A very skillfully repaired tear in the bottom margin.  A few very faint fox marks in the bottom margin.  All of these elements minor, barely noticeable.  This is and remains a beautiful impression, overall in very fine condition, in our opinion.
