Considered one of Art Nouveau’s most innovative and talented creative forces, Eugène Grasset (1845-1917) is today remembered for depicting women with great elegance.  His drafting skills, which he used to create fine art lithographs, posters and all manner of illustrations, were often focused on rendering broad ranges of emotions, from the very bright and happy to the very dark.  Grasset’s use of color was bold, which worked in his favor.  He was equally successful juxtaposing colors that complement each other, as those that clash.
