Belgian artist Eugène Colignon (1876-1961) was trained at the l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Namur, before furthering his studies in Brussels with Isidore Verheyden. While his master in Brussels was a painter more attuned to compositions of a pre-impressionist nature, Collignon embraced Impressionism wholeheartedly. After launching his career as a landscape painter, he also took up printmaking and eventually also made a name as a teacher at his alma mater in Namur from 1930 to 1946; where he is said to have taught drawing. His prints seem to be mostly woodcuts, printed with water-based inks, in Japanese manner. It remains a mystery who could have taught him this, where and when. Any further biographical information one can share, would be welcome.
