Edmond RIGAL

Born in Paris in 1902, printmaker Edmond Rigal graduated with great distinction, receiving four first prizes from the École Estienne in 1922. In 1927, he set up his intaglio workshop in Fontenay-aux-Roses, and then in 1930, he accepted a teaching position at the École. In 1942, the city of Fontainebleau organized an exhibition of his works at the municipal theatre. Subsequently, for nearly 40 years, from 1942 to 1984, he taught engraving at Fontainebleau in his new workshop.
A member of the Taylor Foundation since 1936, his prints were exhibited there in 1987. His long creative career came to an end in 1996. He is buried in Fontenay-aux-Roses Cemetery.
