Diane SANDALL

Diane Sandall is an Oregon-based printmaker whose color woodcuts and linocuts reflect the Pacific Northwest’s fluid landscape—forests, waterways, and wildlife distilled into poetic, simplified forms. Working in both multi-block and reduction processes, she layers transparent water-based inks to create subtle atmospheric shifts and tonal harmonies.

In The Shy Owl (2017) and Ambient River (2015), Sandall demonstrates the versatility of relief printing. The first balances delicacy and humor in a restrained palette of grays, while the second captures movement through layered color and reduction carving. Together, they reflect her ongoing interest in translating fleeting natural impressions into enduring, hand-printed form.
