Diane SANDALL

Diane Sandall is an Oregon-based printmaker whose color woodcuts and linocuts reflect the Pacific Northwest’s gorgeous landscape—forests, waterways, and wildlife distilled into poetic, simplified forms. Working in both multi-block and reduction processes, she layers transparent water-based inks to create subtle atmospheric shifts and tonal harmonies.

In both Ambient River (2015) and The Shy Owl (2017), Sandall demonstrates her versatility and inventiveness with relief printing. The first captures fluid movement through layered color and reduction carving, while the second balances the delicate texture of feathers against a snowy atmosphere within a restrained palette of grays. Together, they reflect her ongoing interest in translating fleeting natural impressions into enduring, hand-printed form.
