Christopher BROWN

Christopher Brown (b. 1951) is a prominent American painter and printmaker whose work explores the intersection of memory, perception, and narrative. A longtime faculty member at UC Berkeley, Brown rose to prominence in the Bay Area in the 1980s for his evocative, layered figurative scenes. His prints, produced in collaboration with Crown Point Press and Paulson Fontaine Press, extend his rich painterly vocabulary into lithography and intaglio, often employing repetition and mirroring to create a sense of temporal dislocation. Brown’s work is prized for its dreamlike atmosphere, visual intelligence, and the subtle ways it blurs abstraction and representation.
