Artist’s proof aside from the edition of 100. All etchings by the artist have become extremely scarce, due mostly because of their popularity during his lifetime. This composition, one of his best, is particularly hard to find today, in any condition.
Signed, titled and annotated “epreuve d’art.” in pencil.
Slight tone on either side of the crucified Christ, and with a small printer’s crease in the right discoloration. The pencil notations somewhat faded, but still legible. The colors still fresh. Priced accordingly.
