Le Banc de Jardin (original French title)
Mezzotint printed in warm black ink on thick wove paper.
Reference: Wentworth 75.
Extremely scarce early state proof. It is marked as a first state by the artist in pencil. Before Wentworth’s first state, and before the title band below the composition was burnished out to make room for letters. Possibly unique as such.

Signed “James Tissot” and annotated “1e Etat” in pencil. Also bearing the artist’s red “JTJ” monogram stamp (Lugt 1545).
A very rick and fine impression with deep black inking, in nearly perfect condition aside from very faint foxing only visible on the verso.
