Old Man Seated by the Window

c. 1901

Père Boyer or Vieillard Assis or Le Vieux (original French titles)

Color aquatint, soft-ground etching and gouache on Arches laid paper.
Ref: not in Addade.  After a very accomplished watercolor, painted in 1897 in Nemours (Seine-et-Marne).
The artist was then just 16 years old.  An oil painting of the subject also exists.
Edition of 30, quite scarce.  This impression has a landscape with a cottage painted by hand in the window.  We’ve seen only one other impressions of this print with the same hand coloring.  Other impressions all lacked it.
Signed, titled and numbered "30-14" in pencil.
