Head of an Old Woman
Tête de Vieille (original French title)
Soft-ground etching with touches of aquatint on laid paper.
Reference: Morane 45.
No known states; from the stated edition of 50, which was likely not printed in full. This composition is the one reproduced on the cover of Daniel Morane’s catalog raisonné.
Signed and numbered in pencil.
Pronounced and somewhat uneven toning inside a prior mat window. The sheet was conserved, but some discoloration has proven persistent. While we are not often inclined to acquire less than well-preserved prints, this one has become scarce, and the overall attractiveness of this impression is still being unmistakable. It remains a very attractive object in our biased opinion. Priced according to its less-than-perfect condition. The third image shows the discoloration.
