Woman Knitting
Lithograph on Rives wove paper.
NOTE: "Woman Knitting", or "Knitting". We have recently found out that an impression of this print can be found in the collection of the Met NY (see HERE). From this impression, as well as from this website, we found out that this print was created under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The Met impression bears a "New York City WPA Arts Project" typographic annotation. Our impression does not have this, which suggests that this is one of a few impressions the artist kept for himself, aside from the official edition.
The sitter for this print is the artist's wife, Marie Anchel, nee Snydover. They maried in 1938.
Edition unknown, but likely small if any. Scarce.
Signed in pencil.
