Description

Cochons au Soleil (original French title)

Drypoint (mostly with the burr shaved off), aquatint, roulette, and very probably touches of etching printed on tan laid paper.
Reference: Bourcard & Goodfriend 64 ii/iii.
One of the very few impressions of this second state (4 impressions only, if the artist’s annotation in the plate is to be believed), before the plate was brightened and reduced to the top image only.
Signed with the red owl stamp (Lugt 977).
With the J and G (Jim Goodfriend) initials, forming a butterfly in pencil, on the verso.
