Au Théâtre Libre: Antoine dans "L’inquiétude"

The edition is generally numbered in pencil, and about half bear a red monogram stamp. Our impressions has both.  A very fine impression in excellent condition, aside from minor creasing in the bottom left corner, with full margin.

NOTE: We remain in the dark about this particular scene. This play, "L’Inquiétude" (ENG: Worry) is very obscure. We know it was written by Jules Perrin and Claude Couturier. We know it was performed at the "Theatre Libre", which was founded and still run by Andre Antoine during the 1893-94 season, when it was performed. This is when and where Lautrec saw it performed, and Antoine is obviously one of its main actors. We also know that the woman with the lamp is also an opera singer with the stage name of Madame Savillé, who, for instance, performed Verdi's "La Traviata" a year later. Finally, we know that Jules Perrin, who co-wrote the piece, also composed music. It makes us suspect that this play may have had singing, but this is just an educated guess.
Final note: this play WAS published by "Librairie Fasquelle". We have even found it sold, part of a auctioned lot of plays of that time, which had been bound together. The play has, however, never been digitized or republished. If anyone owns a copy of this play, please consider giving it to an institution that will digitize it.
